Melbourne Is abuzz about fashion as we do out with the coats and women's boots and get ready for spring (or we at least try, even if the weather has additional ideas). Designers are revealing their new ranges in Melbourne Fashion Week, high-street shops are altering their mannequins, and vintage boutiques are sewing coats for sun dresses.
It's no Secret this town's got the goods when it comes to purchasing strips, but which one to select? Are you all about the pre-loved finds? Or is luxury shopping more your personality? Look no further than this useful guide to some of Melbourne's finest shopping havens. Boutique Melbourne labels on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy You will locate a lot of local designers who have set up shop among the wine restaurants and bars on this tiny street that joins Brunswick and Smith. Pick up a femme and floral find in Megan Park, peruse block-coloured garments in wide cuts at Handsome or get graphic with printed dresses and shirts at Leonard St. Occasion and bridal wear on High Street, Armadale Whether you are planning your big day or just want something to wear to somebody else's, this leafy east-side boulevard has you sprinkled. Australian labels including Thurley, Camilla and Marc and Zimmerman are all on hand for a reliably show-stopping frock, while Aje, Skin and Threads and Ryder will suit individuals who prefer a laid-back appearance. For individuals with pending nuptials, Karen Willis Holmes and Rachel Gilbert, to name a few, will help you find the dress and women's shoes of your dreams. Vintage finds on Sydney Road, Brunswick Everybody Knows Sydney Road is home to classic clothing superstore Savers, but what you might not know is that there are a host of other amazing small stores where you can pick up pre-loved threads and women's wedges. Some, including Brunswick Style, have other knickknacks and bric-a-brac to retro up your home along with your own wardrobe. Others, such as Recycle Boutique, will sell your old (but good quality) garments for you. Luxury labels on Collins Street, Melbourne It is called the Paris ending because of this -- Hermés, Louis Vuitton and Dior all call the eastern end of Collins Street home. There are a host of additional luxe foreign labels, too -- such as Gucci, Ralph Lauren and Prada. For shoe fanatics, there's Miss Louise and Dolci Firme -- each having a selection of renowned brands that could send Carrie Bradshaw to frenzy as the prices are so much cheaper than other women's shoes in Australia. Outlet shopping on Bridge Road, Richmond Despite Significant outlet centres boasting the best bargains, Bridge Road still gets the products. Not every shop is dedicated to sale stock anymore, but many still do have last season's clothes and shoes such as women's pumps for cheap, including Gorman, Nation Road and Alannah Hill. Big brands on Chapel Street, South Yarra Chapel Street is long and full of clothing, women's shoes and accessories. We reckon the South Yarra finish is the best place in Melbourne to strike up high street brands, such as Witchery, Sportsgirl and Kookai, as they tend to have the best store Fitouts and a bigger range than their shopping center counterparts. One of the Chains, you'll come across some higher-end stores, including Alice McCall, sass and bide and Zomp (another favourite for its women's shoes online fiends).
